Organisers want Budapest Pride 2022 to be stronger and louder than ever!

“Love does not have only one way” – the organisers of this year’s Budapest Pride reacted to a statement of radical Mi Hazánk yesterday. The far-right party received six parliament seats in the April 3 general elections and announced before that they successfully reserved the parade route for a Mi Hazánk event.

Budapest Pride on an alternative route

Előd Novák, an MP of Mi Hazánk, announced that they reserved Andrássy Street before the organisers of Budapest Pride could. Therefore, the parade will have to find an alternative route. But Budapest Pride organisers seem to be determined. They stated that they intended to hold the parade in July 2022.

They added that this year’s pride will be greater than ever before. Organisers are preparing with more programs and surprises. “We will be louder, stronger to be seen from the Carmelite Monastery of Buda, from the Moon, and even from the Sirius.” Of course, they did not mention these places at random. The Carmelite Monastery referred to PM Viktor Orbán since it is now his residence. Furthermore, his fourth government launched the so-called child protection referendum/LGBTQ in education referendum, which was deemed invalid.

By mentioning the Moon, they referred to the prime minister, too. In his victory speech on April 3, Viktor Orbán said that their landslide victory could be seen not only from Brussels but also from the Moon. Finally, by mentioning the Sirius, the brightest sky in the night sky, they probably referred to alternative beliefs common among radical right circles claiming that Hungarians somehow came from there.

People want to live freely and happily in Hungary

Budapest Pride organisers said they could not be intimidated. They highlighted that their movement is not about the streets but about people who want to live freely and happily in Hungary. “Love does not have only one way” – they said, meaning that as there are different sexual minorities, they can find alternative routes for this year’s parade. They also added that Előd Novák’s action draws public attention to them and their goals, for which they are happy.

This year’s pride will be the 27th in Budapest and will be organised on July 23, a Saturday. You can find more information about it HERE, while the Facebook event is HERE.

  1. What they do in private is their business but they are not happy unless they are trying to rub everyones noses in their immoral lifestyles. Pardon me for not supporting moral degeneracy. I guess soon we will be expected to look the other direction when they are coming after our children with their attempts to indoctrinate our youth.
